Our story
My name is Ellen and I’m the heart and soul behind Florals By Ellen.
Being born and raised in Sarasota, Florida, flowers have always played an important role in my life.
Growing up, gardening with family kick started my green thumb, and after moving into our new home I fell in love with it even more. In 2021, my partner and I began filling our space with plants and began creating an oasis in our own backyard.
I became a florist in 2023, working at a local shop where my love of florals bloomed and my mind was filled with flowers that I dreamt of one day growing myself.
In 2025, I took the leap and started a cut flower garden in my backyard. It has quickly become my biggest passion and something I feel I was always meant to do!
For me, growing is only part of the joy. The other part is seeing someone’s face when they receive the perfect bouquet of flowers picked just for them.

Every arrangement that comes from Florals by Ellen is designed with flowers grown locally by me or other flower farmers in the area.
Traditional florist shops and grocery stores sell flowers that are imported from other countries, grown with pesticides, and sprayed with different chemicals. When you bring these imported flowers into your home you are inviting the harmful chemicals along with them— often at your dinner or bedside table.
When I learned about this, and how dark the floral industry is, I felt the need to do better.
I started Florals By Ellen to fill Sarasota and surrounding areas with sustainably grown, pesticide free flowers that are tended to with love and care.
